What our large & dangerous removal covers
Mature, oversized or structurally unsound trees close to homes and boundaries, brought down safely by a specialist crew using proper rigging, not a general gardening outfit with a chainsaw.
Risk assessment before we start
Large and structurally unsound trees are assessed for decay, lean and root condition, and what is within falling distance, before we choose a method.
TPO and conservation area checks
Mature trees are the ones most likely to carry a TPO. We confirm protection status before quoting, since a breach fines the homeowner up to £20,000.
Sectional dismantling with rigging
Large or awkward trees near buildings or boundaries are taken down piece by piece using ropes and rigging, lowering each section under control.
Protection of nearby structures
Every removal is planned around what is nearby, whether a conservatory, a shed, a fence or overhead cables, to keep the surrounding property safe.
Full site clearance
All timber, branches and debris are cleared once the tree is down, and stump grinding can be arranged on the same visit if the stump needs to go too.
What large & dangerous removal typically costs
Large and dangerous removals vary far more than standard jobs, which is why most of these are quoted after a site visit rather than from a list. Cost is driven by the tree's size and condition, access, proximity to buildings or power lines, whether TPO or conservation area consent is needed, and rigging or crane requirements.
Protected trees, TPOs and conservation areas
Many trees across Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns are protected by a Tree Preservation Order, or sit within a conservation area. Carrying out work on a protected tree without the council's consent is an offence, and the liability falls on the tree owner, not the contractor.
Before any work starts we check whether a tree is protected, prepare the council application on your behalf where consent is needed, and carry out the work to the specification the council approves. It is one less thing for you to worry about, and it keeps you the right side of the rules.
Three steps to a tidy garden
Describe the tree and the risk
Tell us what is concerning you, whether it is size, lean, visible decay or storm damage, and where the tree stands relative to buildings or boundaries.
Site visit and written quote
We carry out a free site visit to assess the tree, the risk and any TPO or conservation area status, confirm the method, and follow up with a written, no-obligation quote.
Removal day
The crew brings the tree down using the safest method for its size and position, clears all timber and waste, and leaves the site tidy.
What our customers say
Quill Hall Arboriculture took on the mammoth task of removing a mighty pine tree from our garden, bordering the pavement and very close to the busy road. They did a great job with great skill.
Thank you for the usual excellent job by the team from Quill Hall. A huge tree to be removed as a result of disease, plus pollarding of several others carried out quickly, courteously and with a very high level of clear up.
Ben and his team were amazing completing some major tree works around lakes for me. Service was second to none and prices very competitive. We will be using quill hall again in the future
